Expand Your Therapeutic Toolkit
Integrate equine cryotherapy as a targeted modality that complements your existing practice.
Equine cryotherapy uses localized cold therapy to support circulation, reduce inflammation, promote tissue health, manage pain, and enhance recovery—helping you work more effectively with a wider range of horses and varying clinical presentations.
This certification equips you to perform equine cryotherapy with purpose, while enhancing your decision-making and treatment planning skills. You’ll learn how to determine when cryotherapy is appropriate, when it isn’t, and how to integrate it responsibly alongside your current massage, bodywork, chiropractic, veterinary, or rehabilitation programs. With an emphasis on anatomy, assessment, safety, and contraindications, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to use cryotherapy effectively with intention and professionalism.
With this hybrid program, online coursework lays the foundation for understanding before applying techniques during an in-person practicum. By the end of this program, you’ll be able to use cryotherapy as a strategic, problem-solving modality—enhancing outcomes for your equine clients while building a more credible, sustainable practice.
Is This Certification the Right Fit for You?
This program is intended for equine professionals or dedicated horse owners who already have a foundational understanding of anatomy, assessment, and hands-on work. Applicants must demonstrate horse handling skills via a 3–5 minute video with their application.

What You’ll Walk Away With
This hybrid equine cryotherapy program is designed to move you beyond simply knowing how to use cryotherapy and into understanding when, why, and when not to use it. The focus is on thoughtful application—so cryotherapy becomes a strategic, responsible part of your existing work rather than an isolated technique.
Throughout the program, you’ll build the knowledge and clarity needed to assess horses accurately, choose appropriate applications, and communicate your decisions with confidence in real-world professional settings. The result is a modality you can use ethically, effectively, and with purpose—whether you’re working independently or as part of a larger care team.
By the end of the program, you’ll be able to:
- Make assessment-driven decisions about when cryotherapy is and isn’t appropriate.
- Apply cryotherapy with a clear understanding of anatomy, physiology, and tissue response
- Evaluate horses to determine safe, effective applications
- Identify contraindications and pathology considerations that require modification or referral
- Document cryotherapy sessions clearly and professionally using SOAPR notes
- Integrate cryotherapy within your professional scope while collaborating confidently with veterinarians, trainers, and other practitioners
Why This Matters for Your Practice
Cryotherapy can be a powerful modality—but only when it’s used with intention, restraint, and sound clinical reasoning. This program is built to help you use cryotherapy responsibly, supporting better outcomes for horses while strengthening your credibility as a practitioner.
You’ll leave with:
- A structured, evidence-informed framework for applying equine cryotherapy
- The confidence to explain your decisions, recommendations, and limitations to clients and care teams
- Practical skills you can apply immediately, without guessing or overstepping your role
This program isn’t about adding another service just to say you offer it. It’s about refining how you support comfort, recovery, and tissue health—while elevating the way you show up in professional equine care settings.
